Yelp Filters Out Way Too Many Reviews!

yelpWhy Won’t Yelp Feature My Customer Reviews?
Yelp is by far the latest frustration we have come across. As our business is growing immensely, our customers have been posting great things about our system on Yelp. We love it! It is so great to see all of these comments explaining how we are helping to make their business successful. The problem is that Yelp won’t post them on our page; they put their reviews on a “non-recommended” page that you have to click on at the very bottom to go to a completely different link.

When you’re on the main business page, Yelp only keeps bad reviews  (for the most part).  So… let’s say you have only two bad reviews and 20 good ones, the bad ones will always make it on your main Yelp business page which is ridiculous.

Why does Yelp do this?
BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE MONEY. That is the main thing behind Yelp. You see a bad review for your company and you don’t want it there? Well that’s when you have to fork over your credit card number so they can “show you” ways to get your rating higher.  Don’t do that, they don’t even guarantee anything. The reviews that go to the non-recommended page don’t even count in your total rating.

What reviews will post?
Yelp wants people to actively use their Yelp account. If you have only posted one review, that review is most likely to be moved to the non-recommended page. The chances of your Yelp review posting will increase by posting more reviews for other businesses. Also, if the reviewer doesn’t really have much of a profile (no picture or bio) then your review will probably be filtered out as well. Make sure your reviews are not too short and provide lots of helpful details.

What can you do?
Nothing! Just kidding. There are a couple things you can do to help get reviews posted on the main business page, but it doesn’t always work. If you get a review whether it’s good or bad, comment back to them. It doesn’t have to be long, just keep it short and sweet. Also, you can add the reviewer as a friend and message them. Communication is key. Communicate with your reviewers and be active with your account. That’s about it.

This is an actual review about Yelp from another unhappy user.
