Are you moving?

Here are some helpful hints we have gathered from frequent movers here in the 220 Marketing office.

 

1.   Have a closet full of hung up clothes? Trash bag the bottom of about 30 items that way you can keep them on the hanger and move them easier.

2.   Don’t have movers? Offer your friends the furniture you don’t want or cook them a nice dinner and provide the drinks.

3.   Label your boxes by which room things are going in. This comes in handy when the people helping you move start bringing in boxes. It definitely helps to eliminate questions.

4.   Leave your stuff in the drawers and saran wrap them. They are going to be empty anyways, so you might as well use the space instead of putting it all in boxes.

5.   Have several zip loc bags ready for when you take things apart. You’re going to want to label each bag for what screws and pieces go to what.

6.   Use clothes, socks, and kitchen towels to wrap your breakables and kitchenware.

7.   Take pictures of the different room set ups you have in place so you can remember exactly how you like it.

8.   Defrost your fridge and let it air dry a day or two before you move.

9.   Use suitcases and duffel bags to pack things in, especially heavy things.

10.   Have a garage sale a couple weeks before you move or try to sell items on Craigslist or Ebay.

11.   On moving day, have a box of moving essentials. Light bulbs, paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, scissors, box knife, etc.

12.   Make sure you have a bag that will get you by for a couple days in case you don’t unpack all of your boxes. Toothpaste, hair dryer, shampoo, towel, etc.
