Creating your personal branding online can start anywhere from social media platforms to client review sites. Start off by Googling your name and company name to see what comes up for you and your business. This will give you an idea of what you need to work on.
Reviews are HUGE. What is the first thing that you do when you want to eat at a new restaurant? You Google it. If a bad review comes up, you’re most likely going to look for a different restaurant. The same goes for potential customers looking up your local business. If your insurance agency has bad reviews or no reviews at all, you can kiss your internet business goodbye. Don’t cry if you get a bad review or two. Make sure you outnumber the bad reviews with good ones. Don’t be afraid to reach out to current and past clients and ask them to post a review for you. Odds are, you have already built a relationship with this person, they will gladly help you out. Be known for who you are and the great service you provide!
Post to keep your clients engaged. When posting on social media platforms, post what you think your followers will like. The more likes and shares your posts have, the more visibility you’ll get. It doesn’t all have to be business related so you don’t bore them too much. Share funny videos that are going viral on the internet or funny pictures from the office. This helps to add a personal touch and will help your clients get to know you and your company better.
You have to remember it is 2014 and you are going to be working with the “connected generation”. The connected generation does not use traditional marketing and advertising. They connect via internet, form relationships via internet, and also make buying decisions based on what they see from reviews and social media. Are you catching my drift? ONLY INTERNET. The connected generation probably won’t do business with you if you are not technology and internet friendly. Think about who you are targeting. If the majority of them are using technology and you aren’t, that should tell you that something needs to change with your marketing efforts!
