How long have you been in business?
The agency was formed by Eric P. Evans, our President & CEO, in January 2010. I joined the agency three years ago in 2015 and have enjoyed working with Eric, and the industry. Eric and I had known each other since 1998, attending the same Christian Church together, and both admiring the values of the Boy Scouts of America.
What makes your business different/stand out from your competitors?
What makes the agency different and stand out from our competitors…is the agency’s commitment to customer service. Each person who works here, from our Customer Service Representatives to our Agent/Producers, is committed to making sure our clients are insured correctly! Bottomline – Our professional recommendations always put our insured’s first – in both coverage(s) and cost. And we don’t stop there… we take the time to educate our insureds as to what they might not have thought about in protecting their assets, and their family.
What are your company values?
Our company values are rooted in our name “Chrysalis Insurance Agency”. A chrysalis is “a protective covering, a shelter state of being or growth”. We try to interact with our clients with this very basic value. That said, the agency puts forth three words which form the foundation under which each CIA employee must adhere to in their relationship with a client: Trust, Value, and Choice! Each of us makes decisions every day based on values, and those values make us who we are! They drive our decisions, and most often, become the root of our passions. It is this same reasoning which each CIA employee draws upon in their everyday working relationship with our clients.
What success have you seen with the 220 system?
We’ve had phenomenal success in growing our Internet presence within specific geographic areas where our clients are located! Client to us is defined as both a personal lines client and a commercial lines client. Through 220 Marketing we have successfully achieved a “first-page presence” in almost all personal lines searches performed by our clients and in most cases those performed by our commercial clients too. All the above proven by the continually increasing number of requests for personal lines and/or commercial lines quote through our website.
Which feature of the system have you found most useful?
The feature I value most in the 220 system is the weekly marketing appointment. These appointments teach you how to participate within and then it’s up to the individual client to take the time and use this resource. Next, would be the continued recommendations from the 220 team of what we are missing and working together to add those items to our site. And last, is our ability to make changes to our website within a 4 to 8 hour turn-around time.
Are there any charities or community initiatives that you are involved with?
As for Charities we support – Eric is very involved in his family church and supporting the homelessness issue in Costa Mesa, and he has for many years. He has two sons who are Eagle Scouts and has been a leader and strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. I too support the homelessness issue in Costa Mesa, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Trellis International (www.wearetrellis.com); I am an Eagle Scout and have served on the Board of Directors of both the LA Council and the OC Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
What would you say is your number one key to success?
I think our number one key to success is the role model of Eric, mandating “Excellence”, which is something he and I are in 110% agreement with and that there is no excuse or substitute for it.
Are there any important milestones you recently achieved?
The past three years we have almost tripled the size of our agency in annual premium written for our clients, we have continued to maintain a 50/50 balance between personal lines clients and commercial lines clients, and we have added incredible people to the agency’s staff, in all areas.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I use our boat, sail, play tennis, and spend time with my two identical twin boys, age 28: Phillip and Geoffrey. Eric loves to spend time with his family, his wife Kelly of 27 years, and three children Riley, who is a sophomore at Cal Baptist University and a licensed agent in our office, Bailey, a senior in high school, and Mandy, a sophomore in high school, and he loves to hike and play his guitar.
